Make a Difference in Your Community!
Seventy-seven years ago, 17 local churches came together and answered the need of hungry and homeless people during the Great Depression.
Today, churches are still meeting the needs of this community. Your partnership makes it possible for hope to be restored and lives to be changed.

HOW TO GET INVOLVED

How: Materials provided by the Mission will that will assist you in networking to help raise funds for meals. Contact Peggy at 206.723.0767 x434
The story behind the challenge...
Jim and Mo Rockstad received a $100 bill from their pastor, along with others in the congregation, and were called to "spread the influence of Jesus in our world." The Rockstads took the cause to heart. Jim noticed an ad in the newspaper about the Mission's need for donations for Thanksgiving meals.
He contacted the Mission for marketing materials, and then set out to grow the $100. They printed letters that they distributed to their neighbors, and mailed them to friends and old business associates.
"We prayed and waited to see what would happen." To their surprise, they received phone calls, checks in the mail and money from those they didn't even know! The results were absolutely amazing to them...the goal was surpassed! They raised $3,540 that first year, and last year surpassed $11,000!
"So many people wanted to give with open hearts for this special time of need," said Jim. "It was an overwhelming experience."
Join the Rockstads and others as they do ONE THING this fall to make a difference in the life of homeless men, women and children.

Alexa's ONE THING
Alexa started serving meals at the Men's Shelter a few years ago. She wanted to do more. So, she took her love for basketball and volunteering and created a basketball camp for girls ages 7-12. She has raised over $4000 and feels grateful to be able to give back.

Become an Ambassador
An Ambassador is an important link between the church and Seattle's Union Gospel Mission. Ambassadors serve as a liaison between the Mission and the congregation to provide up to date information about the needs of Seattle's hurting and homeless community. If you are interested in becoming an active part of a ministry that changes lives, please contact Peggy at 206.723.0767 x434.
Ambassador Resources
Ambassadors are provided resources upon request and are sent monthly updates. We will also feature opportunities on line for Ambassadors to view and see if their group would be interested in participating.

Meal Tickets
Meal tickets are a great alternative to handing out cash to those who are asking for money. Each ticket is good for one meal at the Mission's Men's Shelter located in Pioneer Square. Those coming to the shelter for a meal will be greeted by friendly staff and a nutritious meal. (The shelter serves 3 meals a day, 365 days a year.)
A donation of $20.00 is suggested for a pack of ten tickets. You can mail in your gift with a request for meal tickets to:
Seattle's Union Gospel Mission P.O. Box 202 Seattle, WA 98111-0202
Or donate online by clicking here.
